A translated EPUB can feel harder to read even when the sentences are grammatical. The language may use more words, paragraphs may be unusually dense, or the reader's font settings may make long lines tiring. A bilingual edition adds another kind of length by keeping both languages.
Identify which problem you are seeing before changing the text or submitting another task. Better display settings cannot fix a missing qualification, while rewriting a correct paragraph will not repair a clipped container.
Compare meaning before comparing length
Translations do not need to have the same word count as the original. A phrase may need explanation in another language, or become shorter because the target language expresses the idea differently. Length alone does not establish an error.
Choose one paragraph that feels excessive. Compare its claims with the original: are new explanations or repetitions present, or is the same information simply expressed with more words? Then check the opposite problem. A very short translation may have lost a condition, example, or sentence.
For important passages, inspect negatives, quantities, and levels of certainty. A smoother or shorter rewrite is not an improvement if it changes the claim. Keep your review about meaning rather than aiming for equal line counts.
Check paragraph and heading boundaries
A wall of text may result from paragraphs joined across a chapter or page boundary. Compare the original's breaks, quotations, lists, and headings with the output. A dense source paragraph and an accidentally merged sequence need different remedies.
Headings should help you understand where a section begins. Check whether a subtitle has become ordinary body text or whether emphasis makes unrelated lines look like a new chapter. Use the table of contents too; visible styling and navigation are separate checks.
Record a location and source phrase before making edits. If you change an EPUB externally, use a working copy and revisit nearby paragraphs so you do not detach a note or illustration from its explanation.
Account for the bilingual reading load
PDF Craft's bilingual EPUB places each original passage before its translation. You therefore read or move past both languages throughout the chapter. It is not synchronized columns and may not keep corresponding text together on one screen.
Try a short exchange of dialogue and a long explanatory paragraph. If comparison is useful only occasionally, translation-only may be easier for continuous reading. Keep the original separately for questions. If close study is the aim, a larger screen may make the bilingual edition more comfortable.
The bilingual reading guide helps choose the edition. Do not mistake the extra source text for repeated translated content when diagnosing apparent duplication.
Test font, line length, and spacing
Use the reader's available settings to find a comfortable font size, line length, margins, and spacing. Change one thing at a time so you can tell which adjustment helps. Try your normal light or dark appearance and inspect target-language characters.
A narrow phone display, a large tablet, and a desktop window can expose different problems. Read a real passage for several minutes rather than judging a decorative first page. Avoid shrinking text below comfortable size merely to reduce the displayed page count.
If a caption is clipped or a paragraph disappears, compare the exact EPUB in another reader. If the problem follows the file, investigate structure; if it appears only in one app, examine that reader's behavior. See EPUB troubleshooting for that process.
Use instructions for the next translation carefully
If the wording itself is consistently too formal for your purpose, a concise tone preference may help guide a later task. Describe the audience and intended voice without asking to summarize or simplify important content unintentionally.
Instructions are not a readability score or a guarantee. Review a representative passage after processing, and compare meaning again. PDF Craft does not provide a promised automatic readability-rating feature in this workflow.
Use the EPUB translator to select the target language, output, and instructions. New users receive trial credits; processing is charged by usage, with current rates on Pricing. After download, use the format guide to check navigation and resources as well as prose. The aim is a reading edition that is comfortable and remains faithful enough for its intended use.
