Continue an Untranslated Book Series Without Losing Names or Context

Prepare an EPUB sequel with a compact continuity brief, retain established names and terms, and compare chapters when reading an AI-translated continuation.

The first books in a series may have an official translation while the next volume does not. You already know the world and its vocabulary, which helps—but a new translation can make a familiar character, rank, or place look like something entirely different.

Preparing a sequel is therefore a continuity task as well as a translation task. A small set of established decisions can make the reading edition easier to follow without pretending to reproduce an official translator's work.

Build a continuity sheet from the earlier volumes

List the main characters, places, organizations, titles, and recurring fictional terms. Record the source form and the spelling or rendering you already know. Include aliases and brief relationship notes where necessary.

Keep the sheet selective. You do not need to upload previous books or copy their translated passages into an instruction field. A compact note such as “Mara Vale is the same character called the Navigator; keep that title distinct from the naval rank” is more usable than a long plot recap.

Distinguish established facts from your guesses. A character's apparent identity may be deliberately uncertain at the end of an earlier book. Do not resolve that ambiguity in your instructions and then blame the translation for following it.

Confirm that the sequel file is the right one

Check the title, author, volume number, edition, and chapter list in the original file. Series numbering can differ between an omnibus and individual volumes. An apparent “book three” may contain parts already included in your earlier edition.

Make sure the EPUB opens and contains the ending. Retain an unchanged copy and use a separate filename for the result. If the only source is a scanned PDF, use PDF conversion and inspect recognition before assessing the translation.

Use files you are permitted to process. This workflow does not fetch missing books, scrape websites, remove protection, or grant permission to distribute a translated sequel.

Carry the background forward in a short brief

In PDF Craft's novel translator, upload the EPUB, choose your target language, and add the important continuity decisions. For example:

This is volume three of a fantasy series. Keep Mara Vale, Alder Reach, and the Watch unchanged. Translate “Waykeeper” consistently as a role title, distinct from a personal name. Preserve formal address where it shows rank.

This fictional example shows the level of detail, not a guaranteed result. Instructions guide translation; PDF Craft does not automatically import a series glossary, remember earlier tasks, or build a character database from previous books.

If a term has an established rendering in the version you read, say what it is rather than asking for “the usual translation.” The system may not know which edition you mean. See character names and relationships for handling aliases and changes of address.

Read the opening and a later chapter against the source

Choose bilingual output if you want each original passage available immediately before its translation. Translation-only output is more compact for uninterrupted reading. Review Pricing and current limits, submit the task, and download the finished EPUB.

Start by checking a chapter with returning characters. Does each familiar name map to the intended person? Do titles still express the same hierarchy? Search a few important terms later in the book to see whether their meaning or rendering drifts.

Then sample a scene that introduces new information. A strange term may be intentional world-building rather than an error. Compare the surrounding paragraphs before replacing it with a familiar word from an earlier volume.

Keep continuity notes separate from the novel

Maintain a small reader's note with chapter locations and verified decisions. Avoid adding explanations directly to the author's text as though they were part of the original. If you edit a working copy externally, preserve the untouched download and reread the whole scene after important changes.

A personal reading edition may let you continue while marking uncertain passages. It is not an official continuation, and a fluent result does not guarantee the same literary voice as an earlier published translation. Before quoting or sharing, check the source and relevant permissions.

For the broader workflow, see reading books with no translation. Keeping the identities and recurring concepts traceable is what makes the sequel feel connected, even when individual translation choices still need review.
