You have a book in another language and want an English edition you can actually keep reading. The practical job is more than translating the first few pages: choose the right source, tell the translator what matters, and check that the downloaded book still behaves like a book.
This guide starts with an EPUB you already have. If your only copy is a scanned PDF, use PDF conversion to recover text and structure rather than changing the file extension to .epub.
Confirm the source book and its languages
Open the original before uploading. Check the title, edition, chapter list, and a passage from the middle. Make sure it is the complete book you intend to read, not a preview or an unrelated file with a similar name.
Look for mixed-language material. A book may contain quotations, appendices, or footnotes in a second language. Note what should happen to these passages in your instructions. A French title on the cover does not mean every passage inside is French.
Prefer the original EPUB when you have one. Converting an existing EPUB to PDF and back introduces extraction work without helping the translation. If a file is protected or cannot be opened normally, resolve legitimate access first; PDF Craft is not a DRM-removal tool.
Keep an unchanged source copy. Use a distinct filename for the eventual English result, including an edition or date if you expect several versions.
Choose English deliberately and give a short brief
Open the EPUB-to-English page, upload the complete EPUB, and select English as the target language in the actual task settings. The page address itself does not make that choice for you.
For a useful brief, describe the subject and a small number of important preferences:
This is an introductory economics book. Use British English and a clear academic tone. Keep personal names unchanged. Use “opportunity cost” for the recurring technical concept.
For a novel, the brief might focus instead on character names, forms of address, and dialogue. Do not paste a long list of contradictory style instructions. If preserving a name is more important than a particular tone, say so plainly.
Preferences guide the translation; they do not guarantee uniform wording throughout the book. Keep a short review list of names and terms to search in the result.
Decide whether to keep the original beside the English
Translation-only output is for reading the English continuously. Bilingual output places each original passage before its English translation, making it easier to compare a difficult sentence without opening another file.
Bilingual does not mean a fixed two-column page. Long paragraphs may take several screens at a larger font size. If uninterrupted leisure reading is your priority, translation-only may be more comfortable. If you are studying or checking meaning, the original passages can be useful.
Review current Pricing and task limits before submitting a long book. Submit the configured task, then download the finished EPUB from the completed task. You can use your preferred EPUB reader; installing PDF Craft Desktop is optional for reading and organizing files.
Check the book structure before settling in
Open the chapter list and jump to the beginning, middle, and end. Compare the chapter sequence with the original. A working file can still contain a missing section or a title that points to the wrong location.
Check an illustrated section, a table, and a note reference if they exist. Images may remain images, including text embedded within them; inspect important labels instead of assuming that all visual text has been translated. Test links and return navigation where the book uses them.
Change the font size on the device you plan to use. Check whether long English headings wrap, whether a table is clipped, and whether the alternating passages in a bilingual file remain easy to follow. The aim is usable reading structure, not identical pagination to the source edition.
Read a few English passages for meaning as well as fluency
Choose contrasting passages: narration and dialogue for a novel, or an explanation and a definition for nonfiction. Check names, negations, dates, numbers, and who is doing what. A sentence that reads smoothly can still reverse a claim or assign speech to the wrong character.
Search the key terms from your brief. If an unusual English phrase recurs, inspect its source before replacing it everywhere; one source word may have different meanings in different chapters.
Keep a brief correction note with the chapter and identifying source phrase. For private reading, you can flag uncertain passages and continue. Before quoting, sharing, or publishing an English passage, compare it closely with the original and obtain appropriate language or subject review. A downloadable English edition is a starting point for that decision, not a certification of the translation.
